Who would have thought?

Really? It really is amazing how things worked out. I never, ever, imagined that I would still be working with my employer from Miami Beach in Raleigh, N.C. I apologize in advance, but this post is somewhat of my initiation slash commencement to my new virtual home, and also my physical home. Celebrate with me? It's also emotional since its the demise of my previous blogspot, which I hardly used. Strange how easily I can get attached. Warning, this next sentence may sound too zen for you. This blog will help me maintain balance in my life, not only balance, but discipline, focus, and creatively. What I'd like to share with you are images that evoke emotion, whether it be a slice of cheese on a butcher block table, or a well-thought out interior space. I love drama and bold colors in small intimate room, and I appreciate the minimalist approach in a wide open space. (Maybe that is why I am having such a hard time picking dining chairs!) That's another post.

I am daring myself to post on this site at least 3 times a week. I may fail...Well, I know I will fail, but see, that's the wrong attitude! It makes me angry with myself. I am already setting myself up for failure. And I know, this is just a website, and I shouldn't be hard on myself, but I am, and I can't help it. Alright, I will stop my ranting.

So, we actually moved up to Raleigh last November. Rob and I lived in small tiny duplex in the heart of Coconut Grove, a small neighborhood in Miami, FL. We have fond memories there and we still reminisce. It was our perfect little world; dog park nearby, restaurants and shops just a short walking distance away, and the occasional "walkers" were fun to observe. See, if you know Coconut Grove, you'll know that Grand Avenue is just a few blocks away, and we had a Walgreen's literally just a 2 minute walk, so our street was the pathway to the Walgreen's. There will be all sorts of crazy people walking towards the 24-hour Walgreen's at odd hours of the night. The minute we moved in, Rob set up home security alarm, and "beware of dog" signs everywhere. Doesn't she look threatening??

Meet Kenji. We rescued her when Rob and I were dating. She is a shepherd mix, but looks like a Black Mouth Cur. We also have two toy poodles.

This is a view of our living room in the duplex...

If you are wondering, the first door on the left leads to guest bedroom #1, and the door that is open leads to our master bedroom. Right across from our master bedroom door was the guest bathroom. We actually had an on-suite.

Here is another view of the living room from the front door. To the left was our kitchen, and the back door towards the right leads to guest bedroom #2, which we used as an office. This small duplex had a small little yard for our doggies. It was October, hence the pumpkin on the coffee table!

They really hated to be outside. Miami is very muggy.

We had a wonderful time living there. Lot's of parties and get-togethers, and friends/family coming over. But before the duplex, we lived in a 600 sqft apt...which was dismal. Maybe, just maybe, I will share some images...one day.

Now, we are in Raleigh, and we are enjoying it! It really has been an adventure. We purchased a ranch-style home in May. We've already removed the popcorn ceiling, and removed all the carpet. There's still plenty to do. The list is exhaustive, but a home doesn't happen overnight.
